Animal Face Strain Introduction

Animal Face carries a trophy, and very little else on this menu does. It took first place for indoor flower at the 2022 Emerald Cup. The same year it was named runner-up for strain of the year. Both of those check out against the published winners lists.

It crosses Face Off OG with Animal Mints. Seed Junky Genetics made it. Direction matters here: a Face Off OG clone pollinated by an Animal Mints male. That puts an OG on one side and the Cookies family on the other. THC runs 25-29%. Sativa-dominant, and it delivers on that.

What comes out leans gas rather than dessert. Diesel and pine lead the nose, with sweet nutty mint sitting underneath them. That mint is inherited from the Animal Mints side. It stays in the background where it belongs.

The onset is cerebral and it does not wait around. Euphoria arrives inside a few minutes. Your head goes clear and bright before anything physical shows up. A tingling follows through the body after that. Uplifting, and it keeps that lift longer than most.

What it does not do is put you down. No couch-lock is documented anywhere, and that is consistent across the record. The body relaxes without taking the legs out from under you. Appetite turns up reliably. Dry mouth is the common complaint, with dizziness behind it.

Appearance

Bud colour is deep green, closer to moss than to lime. Pistils come up dark orange and sit against that green hard. Structure is dense and tight-packed. It handles heavier than the size suggests.

Trichome colour is the detail worth a look. They come up amber rather than milky white, which gives the whole surface a sugared finish. Resin sits thick across it. Sticky to break apart. Top-shelf bag appeal, and it earned the look.

Aroma & Flavours

Open the bag and diesel comes out first. Sharp, fuel-edged, unmistakable. Pine follows right behind it. Then a nutty sweetness underneath, and mint through the middle of that. Pungent, and not remotely a dessert strain. It fills a room faster than you expect.

Flavour keeps the gas and adds sugar to it. Sweet nuttiness carries the inhale, with mint running through the middle of the draw. Pine and earth close the exhale, and the diesel never fully leaves.

Is Animal Face Indica or Sativa?

This is a sativa-dominant hybrid and nothing in the record argues with that. The numeric split is another matter entirely. The primary source says 60/40, while one retailer has drifted to 80/20. A grower’s notes push it higher again. We are publishing no number. The behaviour is straightforward enough without one.

This is a daytime strain and the occasions follow from that. Morning use, creative work, anything that needs the head working. It suits the company, because the lift is sociable and clean. It is the wrong strain for bedtime.
